Description
It was at the beginning of winter in Montana, and after traveling for some time on a forest service road, I came to a pull-off to a meadow with a small creek running along the edge. As I explored the stream’s edge, I was drawn to the water splashing onto the moss-covered rock and the sunlight hitting something that was sparkling. Upon a closer look, I could see that the water was actually starting to freeze into clear ice drops and I knew that I had to capture it. I was not going to let the fact that the rock was in the middle of the icy cold creek and down a snowy embankment stop me. After a few minutes of wading in knee-deep water and getting into position, I had the shot. The walk back to the vehicle through the snow with wet shoes was worth it for the resulting photo.
