Description

Mesa Verde National Park is a short distance from our farm in SW Colorado and has visitors from around the world.  This painting is of a popular kiva at Spruce Tree House which is free for visitors to explore. The Kiva often contained a small hole in the floor through which it was believed that life or spirits entered the world, making the Kiva a place of connection and retreat from both the real and the spiritual worlds. My painting highlights the “Connection” between these two worlds.
